DRIVE UNITS DRIVE UNITS The rear drive unit is located between the rear wheels, and the front drive unit (if equipped) is located between the front wheels. The drive units, shown below, convert the DC from the high voltage battery into 3-phase AC that the motors use to power the wheels. NOTE: The following image shows a Dual Motor vehicle.
